There’s a moment in this week’s conversation with Mike Blackaby that stopped me in my tracks.
He said:
“I don’t want to get to heaven and realize I quit one year before the harvest.”
That’s the tension so many of us feel—especially in ministry, leadership, and everyday faith.
We sow.
We pray.
We stay faithful.
And sometimes… it feels like nothing is growing.
Mike knows that feeling firsthand.
He planted a church in Victoria, BC—one of the most secular places in Canada—right before COVID. By all metrics, it shouldn’t have worked.
And yet, eight years later, he’s watching people walk into the church… who were first connected in year one.
That’s the long game of the Kingdom.
Mike’s new book, Experiencing God in Everyday Life, reframes how we think about spiritual growth:
Most of life is lived in the valley, not the mountaintop
Spiritual maturity is formed through consistency, not intensity
God is present in the ordinary—not just the miraculous
Faithfulness often precedes fruit by years
Many of us have been trained to chase spiritual highs: Conferences. Breakthroughs. Big moments.
But what if the real transformation happens in:
School drop-offs
Quiet prayers
Mundane obedience
Showing up… again
Don’t quit.
Not the calling.
Not the church.
Not the slow work God is doing in you.
Because the harvest may be closer than you think.
