Most churches believe their biggest challenge is keeping people.
But what if the real issue is who never connects in the first place?
Rich Birch, one of the most trusted voices in church growth across North America, helps us see what’s hiding in plain sight: churches are far better at retention than they think—but far worse at connecting with first-time guests.
Rich introduces two simple but profound questions every guest is asking when they walk through the doors:
Was I expected?
Will I be accepted?
From there, we explore why being “friendly” isn’t enough, why invite culture is discipleship, and how even small churches with limited capacity can make changes that unlock growth.
This conversation is packed with insight, encouragement, and tangible next steps for pastors, planters, and leaders who want to faithfully remove barriers to the gospel.
